Take care of others needs, and your needs will be taken care of; take care of others prosperity, and your prosperity will be taken care of; take care of others moksha, and your moksha will be taken care of. Serve the poor; feed the hungry; care for the sick; go from door to door to see what their problems are. This is the only path to peace. These are the commands of Christ and of all spiritual masters: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you'. There is nothing else you need to know. The secret lies simply in implementation. -- Swami Satyananda Saraswati

Bharat's Bio: Expert on Hindu Traditions & Customs

In the fall of 2007, I was hired as a consultant to serve as an expert witness for a legal dispute involving the custody of a child.   I testified, based on my vast scriptural knowledge and practice, as well as on customs and cultural traditions of India.  The testimony that I provided strengthened the case of the person on whose behalf I served as an expert.  I am glad to provide professional references upon request.

I offer my services as a Hindu Priest, and as an expert witness for situations in which knowledge of Hindu practices, traditions, customs or culture may be necessary to understand, clarify and resolve disputes.  Part of my experience includes service for more than two decades as a Hindu Priest, Spiritual Guide, Vedic-Hindu Astrologer, and Yoga Instructor.

I was born a Brahmin to a priestly class family in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.  My spiritual name is Acharya Bharat.  The title “Acharya” was bestowed upon me by my Guru in recognition of my Seva, which is the act of offering selfless service for godly causes, in addition to my spiritual training and achievement.  The meaning of Acharya, my title, is teacher.  The significance in Hindu culture, however, is a dedication to live the teaching I provide.

I came to the United States in 1977, and return annually to India for spiritual retreats, which last as long as three months, as demanded by my priestly designation.  There I serve people in various locations throughout the country.  In addition, I provide lectures at educational institutions, represent the Hindu faith at academic conferences and medical charities, and teach the Hindu faith at universities and churches, such as Washington State University in Vancouver, Washington and Concordia University in Portland, Oregon.  Furthermore, I have been a member of the State of Oregon Governor’s Interfaith Committee since 2003.

Professionally, I am an electrical engineer and performed in that role for an equipment manufacturer and a utility company for 30 years.  Since my retirement in 2006, I am focused on furthering my spiritual preparation and service to diverse communities.
